Junk Removal and Hauling in Mount Airy, MD (Frederick County Side)
Mount Airy sits on Parr's Ridge, right on the line between Frederick and Carroll counties. This page covers the Frederick County side of town, where we do junk removal, cleanouts, sheds and decks, and repairs, with the owner, James (Jay) King, on every job.
Why this page covers the Frederick County side
The town itself spans both counties, and its own trash schedule is split by county. This page is about the Frederick County side, because that's where the county rules below apply. Frederick County's landfill on Reichs Ford Road accepts only waste generated in Frederick County. It won't take material from neighboring jurisdictions, even when the person hauling it is a Frederick County contractor, and it asks for proof of the Frederick County address where the waste came from. Carroll County homes follow Carroll County's rules and sites, which this page doesn't cover.
How close we are
Mount Airy is about 19 miles from 5738 Jefferson Pike, roughly 25 to 30 minutes. We try to group Mount Airy jobs on the same day, and there's no trip charge for a quote.
A railroad town turned commuter town
According to the town's history, Mount Airy grew up in the 1830s along Parr's Ridge and grew with the B&O Railroad, which laid tracks into the village and built a station. Later the town became a home for Baltimore and Washington commuters as well as long-established families. That mix shows up in the work: older houses near Main Street with full basements and attics, and newer homes where it's garages, decks and move-outs.
How Mount Airy handles trash, bulk items and yard waste
- J&J Trash Service collects town trash. Frederick County premises are picked up Fridays (Carroll County premises on Tuesdays), with a 120-gallon weekly limit. Bulk items, hazardous materials, tires and yard waste don't go in regular trash.
- Frederick County recyclables in town are collected every other Wednesday.
- The 2026 curbside bulk pickup was May 9: two items per household, at the curb by 6 AM, in front of your own home rather than in a community pile.
- Bulk day did not take mattresses or box springs, refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves or dishwashers, bags of clothing, fencing, or construction and building material, including sinks, toilets and cabinets.
- Yard waste goes out on set Saturdays in paper bags; the dates left in 2026 are October 10 and 24, November 7 and 21, and December 12. Branches must be cut to 3 feet, under 3 inches thick, and bundled.
Information checked October 2026. Schedules change; the linked official page has the latest.
With the bulk day already past for 2026 and a two-item limit when it comes, most of a cleanout has no curbside way out. A bathroom or kitchen tear-out doesn't either, since building material is excluded. We can take all of it and haul it to the county site. See junk removal for what we take.
Nearest drop-off
For anything the town won't take, the county's site at 9031 Reichs Ford Road is open to residents Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 4:30 PM. Accepted scrap metal and empty appliances go in free at the recycling entrance. Residents can also drop off up to five 30-gallon yard waste bags per day free; loads that carry a fee go through the main entrance. From Mount Airy it's about 13 miles west, roughly 20 minutes each way, and you'll need a driver's license or another document showing the Frederick County address where the waste came from.
