Storage Unit Cleanouts in Frederick, MD

A unit you have been paying for since the last move, one a parent left behind, or one you need empty before the end of the month. I load what goes onto my own truck, haul it away and leave the unit swept. You get a written price first, and the minimum job is $100.

How a storage unit cleanout works

  • You or someone with access opens the unit. Facility rules on gates and access hours vary, so check yours when we pick a day.
  • Mark or set aside anything you want to keep. If you are not sure about a box, leave it in one corner and decide later.
  • I load everything else: furniture, boxes, appliances, mattresses, old electronics and loose clutter.
  • I sweep the unit out so it is ready to hand back.

Loading, hauling and disposal are all in the quoted price.

Where it goes

Storage units are full of things worth a second life. Clean, usable furniture and household goods can go to a donation center like the Habitat for Humanity ReStore or Goodwill, if you set that up first and mark what goes there. Metal and appliances can go to the county recycling drop-off on Reichs Ford Road. What is left goes to the landfill. The full rundown is in where your stuff goes.

What I don't take

Hazardous material stays behind: paint and solvents in liquid form, chemicals, fuel, asbestos and medical waste. Storage units turn these up often, so I flag them when I see them. The county drop-off options are in my landfill guide.

What affects the quote

  • Unit size and how full it is. A half-full small unit and a packed large one are very different loads.
  • What is in it. Boxes of books, appliances and heavy furniture weigh more than the same space of clothes and cushions.
  • Access. A drive-up unit is quicker than an upstairs unit with a long walk to the elevator.
  • Sorting. If you want things sorted on the spot, that takes longer than a unit that all goes.

Send a photo from the open door, tell me the facility and the unit size, and I send back a written price, usually the same day. How pricing works explains the rest. For a whole house rather than a unit, see move-out cleanouts or estate cleanouts.

Towns I serve

I work in Frederick County only, from Frederick and Walkersville to Urbana, New Market, Mount Airy, Jefferson, Myersville, Emmitsburg and every other town in the county. There is no trip charge for a quote anywhere in the county.

Questions

Do I have to sort everything first?

No. Set aside or mark what you want to keep, and I take the rest. If you are not sure about something, leave it in one corner and decide later.

Do I need to be there?

Someone with access has to open the unit, since the facility controls the gate and the lock. Tell me what stays before I start loading, and I take the rest.

What won't you take from a storage unit?

Hazardous material: paint and solvents in liquid form, chemicals, fuel, asbestos, and medical waste. Almost everything else is fine, from furniture and appliances to boxes and mattresses.

How much does a storage unit cleanout cost?

It depends on how much is in the unit, what it is and how easy the access is, so I quote from photos. The quote is free and the minimum job is $100. You pay when the job is done: cash, check, card or app.
