Mattress Removal in Frederick, MD
An old mattress after a new one arrives, a stained one a tenant left behind, or a room full of beds before a move. I carry them out from wherever they are, load them on my own truck and handle the disposal. You get a written price first, and the minimum job is $100.
What I take
- Mattresses of any size, including memory foam and pillow tops
- Box springs and foundations
- Bed frames, headboards, footboards and bunk beds, taken apart if they have to be
- Anything else going at the same time, like a dresser or nightstands
I carry everything out from the bedroom, the basement or the attic. You don't have to drag it to the curb first. Loading, hauling and disposal are all in the quoted price, and I sweep up when the room is empty.
Where the mattress goes
I don't know of a mattress recycling drop-off in Frederick County. Goodwill lists mattresses among the things it won't take, and a stained mattress won't pass a donation center's condition rules. So most mattresses end up at the county landfill on Reichs Ford Road, which accepts mattresses and box springs. The disposal fee is built into my price, so there is no separate dump charge. More on this in where your stuff goes.
The free option, if you are in city limits
The City of Frederick gives each household one free bulk pickup a year, and it takes no more than three mattresses or box springs. You request it online and put the items out where your trash normally goes. Outside city limits there is no county bulk pickup program. My bulk trash pickup guide has the details and links. If the mattress is upstairs, you have already used this year's pickup, or you have more than the limit, that is where I come in.
What affects the quote
- How many pieces. One mattress, or a mattress, box spring and frame for every bedroom.
- Where they are. A ground-floor room is quicker than a third-floor bedroom or a tight basement stair.
- Bed frames. A frame that has to be taken apart before it clears the door adds time.
- Everything else. Adding other furniture to the same trip usually costs less than a second visit.
Send a photo and tell me which floor it is on, and I send back a written price, usually the same day. How pricing works explains the rest.
Towns I serve
I work in Frederick County only, from Frederick and Walkersville to Urbana, New Market, Mount Airy, Jefferson, Myersville, Emmitsburg and every other town in the county. There is no trip charge for a quote anywhere in the county.
Questions
Can you take just one mattress?
Yes. A single mattress is a normal job. The $100 minimum applies, and you get the price in writing before I load anything.
Do you take the box spring and bed frame too?
Yes. Box springs, foundations, frames and headboards all go in the same trip. If a frame has to come apart to get out of the room, I take it apart.
Can a mattress be donated or recycled?
Usually not. Goodwill does not accept mattresses, and donation centers turn away anything stained or torn. I don't know of a mattress recycling drop-off in Frederick County, so most go to the county landfill.
Is there a free way to get rid of a mattress?
If you live in the City of Frederick, the city's free yearly bulk pickup takes up to three mattresses or box springs at the curb. Outside city limits there is no county bulk pickup, so it is a landfill trip or a hauler.
