How close we are
The village is about 6 miles west of us along Jefferson Pike, roughly 10 to 15 minutes. That's close enough that James can usually come look at a job in person the same week if photos don't tell the whole story, and there's never a trip charge for a quote.
A village along Jefferson Pike
Jefferson isn't an incorporated town. A 2006 county planning report describes it as a community in the Brunswick region with a village center along MD 180, which is Jefferson Pike. The village grew in a line along the road, with one- and two-story buildings facing the street on small setbacks and sidewalks along most of the streets. Along with houses, the work out here includes sheds, outbuildings, old fencing and the storage that piles up in garages and basements.
How trash and bulk items work in Jefferson
- Frederick County doesn't run trash pickup. Without a town government, trash in Jefferson goes through your homeowners association, if you have one, or a private hauler you hire.
- There's no town bulk trash day. Bulk pickup programs are run by the incorporated towns for residents inside their limits.
- Large appliances can go to the county recycling center on Reichs Ford Road at no charge during business hours.
- If large items like furniture, mattresses or tires end up along a county road, the county asks you to report them at 301-600-1564 or through its FixIt tool.

Nearest drop-off
For anything your hauler won't take, the county's site at 9031 Reichs Ford Road is open to residents Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 4:30 PM. Accepted scrap metal and empty appliances go in free at the recycling entrance. Residents can also drop off up to five 30-gallon yard waste bags per day free; loads that carry a fee go through the main entrance. From Jefferson it's about 13 miles across Frederick, roughly 25 minutes each way. One truckload with us saves the drive.
